Tearing My Rotator Cuff

I benched 315 for the first time in 1998.

I completely ruptured my supraspinatus – aka my rotator cuff – at the end of 2018/early 2019. I believe that it was partially torn for quite some time prior to the actual tear because it the final nail in the coffin was simply benching 185 on incline bench one day.

I decided against having surgery to repair my rotator cuff. My decision to forgo surgery marked the beginning of my journey to figure out how I could create more stability in my shoulder – with one less rotator cuff.

The 1 Less Rotator Cuff Program

Through the trial and error, I created a new program dedicated to my rotator cuff rehab on CoryG Fitness – The 1 Less Rotator Cuff Program.

I’m Back

I’m officially back. I’m handling 315 out of the rack on a regular basis again, and it’s an incredible feeling.

I think back to the day when it happened. I literally couldn’t use my left arm when I was driving home. I couldn’t do a push-up on my knees. I couldn’t bench press an empty bar.

And what was I able to do in just 3-4 months after my injury? I competed in a bodybuilding show. The training leading up to this show served as my rehab. I trained with 15-lb. dumbbells the entire time leading up to the show. I’ve never been that weak in my life.
