Get Comfortable Being Uncomfortable - CoryG Fitness

Applying this simple concept to multiple areas of my life has proved to be instrumental to my success. While being a fundamental concept, many out there haven’t applied it to their lives at all due to sitting in their comfort zone day after day.

How do you grow from the comfort zone?

#1 — Get up early

I’m not saying you have to get up at 3am, but forcing yourself to get out of bed earlier then you usually do is not comfortable at all. Whether it’s a 3am or 6am wake-up call, try committing to an earlier start time. You will be pleasantly surprised about how much more you can accomplish in the day when you have a few extra hours.

Giving yourself this daily test for you to conquer will take you to the next level.

#2 — Do your most difficult exercise in the gym

Most people in the gym will favor what they are good at. It’s easy to fall into that trap of continually doing this. One of the aspects that I constantly incorporate into my program is challenging myself every day on the exercises that I suck at.

Two easy examples would be to do a 10 second pause front squat, or squatting every day in general. Your body and mind will adapt, and you will be challenged in new ways you’ve never been challenged.

#3 — Force yourself to go do things

You must continue to push the bar a little higher each day. It doesn’t have to be huge incremental jumps, but you need to be going in the right direction. For me, this could mean speaking, a new idea I want to develop, training, diet, etc. It is imperative that you trust in your ability and have the confidence to seek out those things that are outside your comfort zone.

This is how you do great things over time.
