The 3-Day Spiral: When One Cheat Becomes Three - CoryG Fitness

One weekend, a few beers, and a reminder that discipline doesn’t take holidays off

Let me tell you a quick story about how I got a little too comfortable after Thanksgiving weekend.

Friday night started with wings, a few beers, and ice cream.

Saturday? Tacos, beer, and—you guessed it—more ice cream.

Then Sunday rolled around, and I went all in on Thanksgiving leftovers… turkey, stuffing, potatoes, pumpkin pie, and a few more beers for good measure.

The result? Weight up. My body looked softer. My energy was off. My routine slipped.

The truth?

Three straight days of eating like that is just too much. Even when your metabolism is firing and you train hard, your body can only handle so much before it spills over.

Think of it like a beaker—you deplete it all week with training and fasting, then you fill it back up with cheat meals. But once it spills over, that’s when fat gain happens.

So the lesson here? Enjoy the holidays. Have your cheat meals. But cap it at two days. Have a plan. Because getting back on track Monday morning is way easier than digging out of a three-day hole.
