I’m a lunge maniac

Everyone on this website is aware that I’m a lunge fucking maniac. I started lunging 5 days a week 6-8 MONTHS BEFORE I started squatting every day. I actually began lunging because I had very bad patellar tendonitis from doing a plyometric program back in the day.

“I started lunging because I couldn’t squat.”

 

What lunges did for me

The 400/800 meters and sometimes with/without a vest took all my knee pain went away. On top of this my lower back pain went away too! This was due to my glutes being weak and having patellar tendonitis at the same time.
As I went through this process getting lean for shows, gaining a little weight, and entering powerlifting meets, I was at the point of my posterior chain being bulletproof for about two years.

That being said I got injured in a meet trying to pull 600 lbs. at 181. It threw off my piriformis and some of my deep muscles in my glutes. Lunges are one of the staples in my training that I do to keep blood in the area.

 

Increase your metabolic rate

Walking Lunges are going to raise your metabolic rate to the highest level. I call them metabolism magic because of the massive impact they have on your metabolism. On top of this, your strength and connective tissue are boosted as well. Walking Lunges are somewhere between lifting and conditioning. It keeps your heart up and is very taxing on the body.

Do not skip lunges no matter what your goals are.
